12 Days of Christmas Survey

Happy Christmas week everyone! Can you believe that Christmas is only 3 days away??

I don’t know what it is  but I’ve had a hard time getting in the Christmas spirit this year. Over the weekend I came across this 12 Days of Christmas Survey that Jen posted and since it’s a little different from the Christmas survey I did last year, I figured I’d give it a go and hope it helps me get in the Christmas mood! 😉

1. Favorite Christmas movie?

The Santa Clause – hands down! It isn’t Christmas until I’ve watched this movie – Tim Allen is one of my all-time favorite actors and he is just so funny in this movie! This year is the 20th anniversary of The Santa Clause which means that I’ve watched this movie every.single.year since I was 4. Talk about taking a trip down memory lane!

2. Favorite Christmas Song?

I have to pick two for this one! My favorite funny Christmas song is Dominick the Donkey – hi-larious and so fun to sing along with. But my favorite traditional Christmas song is Nat King Cole’s The Christmas Song. This has a special place in my heart because it’s always been Henri’s favorite and so the year that he proposed to me (two weeks before Christmas) I called into the Christmas radio station and had them dedicate it to him for our engagement! 😀

3. White or colored lights?

White! I just LOVE the way that white lights look – especially if they are the ones that twinkle!

4. Christmas Eve traditions?

For as long as I can remember we’ve celebrated Christmas Eve at my cousins’ house with my mom’s side of the family. After Christmas Eve service we head over for lasagna & ham, LOTS of cookies, and a gift exchange. It’s gotten even more special to see everyone the past couple of years because all of the cousins are in college or older now and we don’t get to see each other as often as we used to.

OH! And it’s not Christmas until one of these pictures is taken of Grandpa and the grandkids! haha

We also get to open one present every Christmas Eve and it’s always a new pair of pajamas! 😀

5. How did Santa deliver gifts?

I remember one year when I was really little and we were celebrating Christmas Eve at my grandparents’ house, my grandpa took all us kids (me, my siblings, and our cousins) out for a drive in his truck to look for Rudolph and when we came back to the house Santa had already come!! That was the most exciting year ever, all the other years he would just come overnight when we were sleeping.

6. Christmas Day traditions?

On Christmas morning we open presents while breakfast bakes – we grew up always having monkey bread and in recent years have added egg strata for a savory option!

Later in the day we have a small group of family over for Christmas dinner, my dad always makes roast beef and Yorkshire pudding (<- YUM!). The rest of the day we just spend relaxing, spending time together.

7. Favorite Christmas cookie?

Aunt Emma’s Christmas Cookies! This is a family recipe from my mom’s great aunt and the best way I can describe them is like a cross between a gingerbread cookie and those soft, fluffy Lofthouse cookies. The lemon glaze on top makes them out of this world good!

8. Favorite Christmas candy?

I eat so many cookies during Christmas time that I hardly have room left for candy but I do LOVE the Christmas colored dark chocolate M&M’s just because they’re festive! 😀

9. Eggnog…yes or no?

ICK! I’ve only had one sip of eggnog ever in my life and I honestly don’t know how people can like it – it’s like this weird concoction that smells somewhat like bubblegum?!? (<– I cannot be the only one that thinks this! Who’s with me??)

10. White elephant exchanges…love them or hate them?

I’ve always called them Yankee Swaps and when I get a good gift I love them. If not I hate them! haha

11. Do you send Christmas cards?

YES! Christmas cards are my favorite so ever since Henri and I got engaged we’ve sent out Christmas cards to our family and friends. This year ours looked like this…

12. What do you want for Christmas this year?

My Christmas list was pretty short this year, but you can never go wrong with new running clothes and/or shoes!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!
