27 Wishes on my 27th Birthday

Today I’m 27 years old!

I know it sounds cliche but I really don’t feel like I’m 27 (does that feeling ever go away?). I’m now solidly in my late 20s and while I’ve never been one of those people that dreads getting older I still can’t believe 30 is just a few years away!

Birthdays always have a way of making me reflect on the past year and imagine what I want the year ahead to hold. As this birthday was approaching I couldn’t help but think of how different my life is today than it was last year at this time. I’m a mom, I have my dream job, I’m *this* close to graduating with my Master’s, and Henri and I are homeowners! I used to write a list of goals I wanted to accomplish or things I wanted to do but as I looked forward to the year ahead my thoughts were more drawn to what I want my everyday life to look like this year. Which led to a list of wishes instead of a list of goals.

So today, on my 27th birthday I wish…

  1. for health and happiness for my family.
  2. that I will continue to build solid, Godly friendships that feel like family.
  3. to establish a quiet time routine.
  4. that God will grow and stretch me in new ways this year.
  5. to learn patience.
  6. that our house would be filled with joy.
  7. that I will continue to love my job.
  8. our renovation projects will be completed.
  9. that our house will become a home.
  10. to find joy in running and training hard…
  11. … and that that will lead to some new PRs this year.
  12. to *finally* graduate with my MS in Kinesiology.
  13. for lots of quality family time with Henri & Lavinia….
  14. … an potentially the kind of quality family times that happens on vacation 😉
  15. that our house will come to be a gathering place for friends and family alike.
  16. to read more books this year than last.
  17. to see more of my family that lives far away. (gotta take advantage of the last year Liv flies for free!)
  18. for good food!
  19. to be the best mom for Lavinia…
  20. … and to be okay that best doesn’t mean perfect.
  21. that I can help more runners qualify for the Boston Marathon with my coaching!
  22. to be okay putting the phone away and living in the moment.
  23. that I will be able to savor every single one of Lavinia’s milestones… even if that means learning to accept that she’s growing up!
  24. that our family can find ways to serve others.
  25. to learn how to home-make a satisfying iced latte.
  26. for oodles of Lavinia snuggles.
  27. that 27 will be filled with adventure!

Cheers to 27 and all the things that year 28 has in store!
