A Day of Pregnant Eats – WIAW

It’s been a looong time since I did any sort of What I Ate Wednesday Post but in our birthing class we recently talked about nutrition. I’ve been doing a pretty good job sticking to healthy eats during my pregnancy (with a few extra treats thrown in) but one thing that stuck out to my in our class was that while pregnant you should be eating between 80-10 grams of protein a day.

Nervous that I wasn’t hitting this mark because cooking with any kind of meat has not seemed appetizing to me recently I decided to track a few days of my intake to make sure I was within the range.

Here’s my food log from yesterday –

Breakfast

Ever since I got pregnant I NEED to eat first thing when I wake up. This means that breakfast has to be something easy to digest that won’t feel awful sitting in my stomach when I try to run an hour later. My go-to recently is –

A bowl of oatmeal w/ 1 TBSP brown sugar and 1/2 cup 2% milk + a banana & 1 TBSP peanut butter

Lunch

I love egg scrambles/omlets because I can pack a bunch of veggies into the meal so that’s what I went with yesterday – 2 eggs scrambled with peppers, onions, spinach and a little bit of cheddar cheese + Peach Chobani yogurt with berries and a blueberry muffin to round out the meal. With a side of impatient Finn waiting to lick my plate 🙂

Dinner

Henri and I had errands to run after coaching practice so we stopped at Cafe Rio for a quick dinner. I got my usual Barbacoa Salad. I ate about half of it and brought the rest home for lunch today.

TOTALS

calories: 2,050 // carbs: 303g // fats: 55g // protein: 96g

This is probably one of the best I’ve done with hitting my protein goal but I’m glad to see that it’s not a crazy standard to hit. My calorie range was also pretty good but I’m not too focused on that since I just focus on eating to my hunger.

While tracking my food intake is not going to be a daily thing for me I may continue to do the occasional daily snapshot to see how I am on the protein goal and in eating healthy in general.
