A Monday That’s a Friday

Mondays are always hard… except when they are also a Friday! I have tomorrow off of work for Veteran’s Day and I’m really liking this one day work thing already! ha

This weekend was a great one. Henri and I squeezed a lot of fun, relaxation and tasty food into 48 hours!

Saturday morning I had a 13 long run tempo on the schedule and Henri had a track workout. On his way to the track Henri dropped me off at the starting line of the Boston Marathon so that I could run my favorite long run route along the marathon course to Wellesley. 3 mile warm-up, 8 miles @ tempo pace which ended up being 6:21 pace, 2.5 mile cool-down for 13.5 miles @ 6:40 average pace. It was a killer workout but it really felt great to get my legs turning over on a long run and was a BIG confidence booster for the half I have coming up in December.

As soon as I entered the Wellesley Center Henri drove past me and I hopped in the car so that we could park, change into dry clothes and grab coffee & breakfast before making the drive home. We’ve got a serious love affair going on with Wellesley. It’s basically our dream town… except for the price tag :/

First holiday cup of the season = pure happiness!photo 1 (81)

The rest of Saturday was full of watching the Manchester City game, getting chores and errands done, homemade enchiladas for dinner and watching A Million Ways to Die in the West with a bowl of air pop popcorn and dark chocolate M&M’s. Such a boy movie but definitely funny!

Sunday was a much needed rest day after 13 straight days of running but my body was up and ready to go at 6:00am – figures. 🙂 I took advantage of the situation and made a nice big breakfast! Cinnamon rolls (from the can – nothing fancy), bacon, hash browns AND eggs! photo 3 (66)We had to fuel up because next we headed to Franklin Park to watch my sister race her first 6K cross country race. She killed it and ran 23:40! She ran a smart race and looked so strong at the finish too – ROCKSTAR!

Immediately after the  meet Henri took me on a day date to the New England Aquarium. He’s never been and it’s been years since I went so it was really fun to see all the fishies and then walk around the city a little bit. My faves were Myrtle the Turtle (she’s 95ish years old!), photo 4 (60)

the sharks, photo 2 (79)

and OF COURSE the penguins!photo (37)We rounded out the weekend by watching the LA Galaxy in the MLS playoffs… if you can’t tell we’re getting really into soccer over here! I blame Henri 😉
