Bedspread Dilemna & Date Night at Umami Burger

Boy it feels good to kick off a new week! Henri had to work both Saturday and Sunday so I spent most of Saturday and Sunday working on some projects and putting the finishing touches on the apartment. I’m officially done decorating –  unless I decide to change the bedspread one more time. It’s been the hardest part of the apartment to pick out. I just can’t settle on one that I really like and keep returning the one’s I’ve bought and buying new ones…. haha.

Our current bedspread looks like this….

Knowing Henri had to work over the weekend we planned a date night on Friday. I let him pick the place and Umami Burger was his choice. I was really excited because we’d never been there before and I’ve heard great things from a lot of people!

Henri had to fast for a doctor’s appointment earlier in the day so when we sat down to eat he was MORE than ready for food!!

IMG_7561The menu was very simple which I like because it makes the decision of what to get much easier (as proof that I’m bad at making decisions see the bedspread story above 😉 ). It also usually means that the restaurant focuses on doing a few things very well, instead of a lot of things just so-so.

IMG_7560Onion rings and sweet potato fries are our go to sides with our burgers so of course that’s what we ordered. We loved that the onion rings were thick cut and the spices on the sweet potato fries were amazing (I’m guessing a blend of cinnamon, sugar, and salt – but I could be wrong).

IMG_7563Henri debated between the Sunny Side and Manly but ended up choosing the Manly, which is house beer-cheddar cheese, bacon lardons, smoked-salt onion strings, Umami house ketchup and mustard spread. I went with the Cali which had butter lettuce, roasted tomato, caramelized onions, house spread and house Cali cheese. I loved that it had all the classic things that I usually put on my burger – lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese – but they were elevated a bit with roasting or caramelizing. I also liked how the size is a little smaller than most other burger places because I could eat the whole thing and not feel overly full, meaning…..

IMG_7564… that we had room for dessert! On our way back to the car we walked through the Anaheim Packing House and hit up Han’s Homemade Ice Cream for a sweet treat! Henri got Blackberry and I stuck with my favorite, Chocolate.

It was a great way to end the date!!
