Cancelled…

Whelp… it’s official. The Hyannis Marathon and Half Marathon this weekend has been cancelled.

photo 3It’s a real bummer to have the race that I’ve been training for the past 3 months cancelled but I have so much respect for the race directors that in all honesty made the right call to keep everyone safe this weekend. They clearly didn’t take the decision lightly and did everything in their power to have the race go on as scheduled. In the grand scheme of things one half marathon is not worth pushing through

Runner’s World must have known exactly what my training partner and I needed to hear yesterday because their quote of the day was perfect!

So, the next few weeks are going to be all about adapting to this unexpected cancellation and modifying my plans. I guess a pow-wow with Henri and my coach is in order. Once I know what races I’ll be doing next I will let you guys know A.S.A.P.!

In other, happier news 3 of my athletes had phenomenal performances at their races this weekend (including Lily – below). You can head on over to my coaching site to check out my new post and read all about their performances!

More snow coming today and below 0 temperatures the rest of the week… my treadmill and I have been spending so much quality time together this winter I don’t think I’ll ever be able to refer to it as the dreadmill ever again!

Have you ever had a race cancelled? This is the first time it’s ever happened to me outside of track meets in high school which was never a big deal because we raced 2-3 times a week!

What half should I do instead of Hyannis?? I’m in dire need of suggestions!
