CIM Training: Week 14

Hey there friendly faces!

This training summary is coming to you a bit late this week. To say that the first half of this week didn’t go as expected would be an understatement. On Sunday morning we had a wonderful time at Lavinia’s Baby Dedication at church and then had family over to our house for brunch to celebrate. After the festivities were over and Liv was down for a nap I headed out for an easy 6 mile run to push my weekly total up to 80 miles!! I finished feeling so strong and even told Henri as I was stretching/doing my mini-band exercises that I felt better than I ever had finishing off such a high mileage week (for me).

Everything changed a few hours later when I started feeling a pain in my stomach and was a little nauseated. Henri and I were actually out on a date, thanks to my parents being in town, and we left the movie early because the pain kept getting worse and worse. That night we headed to the ER and spend the early morning hours there to find out that I had an ovarian cyst that was in the process of bursting. All of the doctors seems unconcerned and it is apparently really common but I was in so much pain through Tuesday night that I spent the majority of those two days sleeping on the couch.

I’m feeling a whole lot better now and am glad that the pain has passed but I’m just so frustrated that this happened at this point in my training. I spent a little bit of time moping about it and mad that my plan for this week – what I had dubbed the most important week – was all messed up. In reality I only missed one day of running, as I was able to manage 8 miles yesterday. Sure my workouts will get shuffled around but that has been the case this whole training cycle, due to my job and mom-duties. My coach reminded me that I have a great base and one day of missed running and a few extra easy days aren’t going to mess me up for CIM. I’m trying my best to keep it all in perspective and right now I’m just happy to be back logging miles – why is it that missing two days of running in a row feels like a lifetime?!?

Today I’m recapping last week’s training – the best week of training I’ve had so far this cycle!
