CIM Training: Week 16

I can’t believe that Week 16 of my training for CIM is behind me! It was my last week of full on training before the taper started today. I was a little nervous that this week happened to fall at the same time that I was in Indiana most of the week for work (the teams I coach were running at the NCAA DII National Meet) but I actually managed to get all of my runs done. Fortunately, one of my coaching friends was staying in the same hotel as me so I had a buddy for almost half of my long run on Friday and all of Saturday’s 8 miles. Unfortunately, my 22 mile long run was done on a 1 mile loop around our hotel because none of the roads nearby had bike lanes or sidewalks. As boring as it was it was a major confidence boost to complete the workout on such a monotonous, boring loop and on top of that to nail the workout of the middle 18 miles @ ~goal marathon pace.

Less than two weeks to go until race day and all the runs/workouts from here on out are going to feel easy compared to all the work that is already behind me! As my coach texted me yesterday “This is it.” all that’s left to do now is “stay healthy, hydrated and sleep well” and you’d better believe I’ll be doing all three over the next 13 days.
