Farmstead Table – Brunch

One thing that I’m looking forward to with my new blog name is sharing my foodie side with you guys! If you’ve been reading for awhile you know how much I love to run, and I do post a lot of pictures of my food but cooking and eating good food has actually become a passion of mine over the past few years (especially since I studied abroad in Italy). There is nothing that makes my heart happier than sitting over a nice meal with Henri or friends/family enjoying a good meal and great conversation.

I first saw Farmstead Table as we were walking through Newton to my birthday dinner back in July. I thought it looked like a really cute restaurant and I immediately added it to my mental list of must-try restaurants. When Farmstead turned up again as I was scanning through my Best of Boston magazine I knew that we had to try it out ASAP. They are best known for their brunch so I set up a reservation for Sunday morning and Henri and I spent the whole week looking forward to our meal!

When we arrived for our reservation we were given the option to sit inside or outside on the patio, it was kind of chilly out so we chose inside but I liked that they had the outdoor space as an option.

The first thing I noticed when we sat down was that their menus are very cool. They were definitely homemade and were very unique. The menu itself had a wide range of options from sweet and savory breakfast options to more lunch-y type meals like clams or soup & salad.
IMG_0712While we looked over our menus I ordered a coffee. I was bummed that they didn’t offer any espresso options because cappuccinos are my favorite but they had milk (I’m not a fan of cream) and sugar in the raw so that made up for it.
IMG_0720I really liked the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant. It was quaint, cozy and almost felt like you were at a friend or family’s house. This was my favorite decoration!
IMG_0714I was originally going to order the quiche but when the smell of bacon started wafting over from the table next to us I changed my mind to the Broccoli Cheddar Scrambled Eggs almost 100% based of the fact that it came with bacon! haha I was really happy with my decision, the scramble came with whole pieces of broccoli inside and the bacon was out of this world. The most unique thing on the plate was their homemade spelt toast! It was griddled instead of toasted which was so so tasty. I would go back again just to eat this bread!
IMG_0722Henri was tempted by the clams but went the breakfast route and ordered the Farmer’s Breakfast Plate and was a very happy camper. He cleaned his plate in record time and I swear I’ve never seen him so excited about whole wheat anything (he told me that the toast was amazing like 5 times)!IMG_0723 Overall, I LOVED Farmstead Table which really isn’t a surprise since they were voted one of the best restaurants in Boston. The only downside is that they don’t open up for brunch until 11 am and this early riser had to eat a mini-breakfast to tide me over until the real deal! 🙂

I can’t wait to go back to try the blueberry blintzes!
