Hill Repeats + Post Run Power Exercises #2

I LOVE RoadRunner Sports! I finally got around to ordering some new kicks on Monday and when I came back from the farmer’s market Tuesday afternoon this beautiful package was waiting for me. Free next day delivery!? How can you not love that?

Yesterday morning I took my new Boston Boosts out for a test spin. (#orangeonorange)

The local high school track is closed to the community – and I haven’t gotten up the courage to jump the fence yet – so I opted for 400m hill repeats at a nearby park. I think I will be doing hill repeats here more often because these were really difficult. My bum is going to be sore for days after these!

hill repeats

2 mile warm-up and cool down + 8x 400m’s in 89, 90, 88, 91, 86, 85, 87 & 87 for 8.5ish miles @ 7:13 average pace.

IMG_7714Hills are a great way to work on your speed even when you can’t get to a track. Another one of my favorite way to build speed is by adding some exercises onto the end of an easy run. I posted some of my favorite Post Run Power Exercises last year and now I’m back with round 2!!

post run power exercises Like with the first installment of Post-Run Power Exercises – I like to go through this list 2-3 times after an easy run + some strides. If you’re running any 5Ks or 10Ks this summer and are looking to PR these would be a great thing to add into your routine!

I tried my hand at making a video to explain all the moves – please be gentle… video making is not my strong suit. 😉

Do you pick your running shoes based on color or function? I usually go with function but when a shoe I love comes out in fun colors it makes me even happier!

Are you running any 5Ks this summer?
