Let It Snow

Happy Monday!!! We had some pretty good snowfall over the weekend! Saturday morning my running buddy and I were planning on beating the snowstorm and getting our long run in EARLLLLY but we woke up to 2 inches already at 5 am.

So I headed back to bed for 3 more hours and traded the long run for 6 easy miles on the treadmill. While Henri and my sister’s boyfriend shoveled the driveway she and I made pancakes for our men. I tried out the Bob’s Red Mill Buckwheat pancake mix. I loved it but I know the whole time Henri was wishing for the plain jane one’s my sister made. 😉 Chocolate chips and bananas in mine of course!

While it snowed I did some coaching work while the puppies napped and Henri played some video games. When I have to run both days on the weekend I try to take one of the days really easy (6 miles isn’t much for me) and relax as much as I can throughout the day so it kind of simulates a rest day.

We did get outside for a bit so the dogs could let off some steam…

… and Henri could build his first snowman, ever!!!!!!

We spent Saturday night with my family, eating pizza and catching up with my brother who came over for a little bit (he drives trucks and is always traveling so it’s also fun to see him when he’s in town!). My mom had baked some snickerdoodles for a church event on Sunday so I had to test one out (with some hot cocoa) to make sure they got the thumbs up.

The long run actually happened Sunday… 18 miles of sunshine, slush and snowball throwing trees!  I refueled with PB & banana on toast w/ spinach scrambled eggs before rushing off to church. Sunday long runs are so hard for me with the timing but as runners we’ve got to do what we’ve got to do!

On the drive home from church I got the best kind of text ever from my athlete, Kristina, about her shiny, new, 4 MINUTE PR at the Miami Half Marathon. She has been working so hard this past year and I am so proud of how she’s improved! In the last year she’s taken 35 minutes off of her half PR – now that is cool! Make sure to head on over to her blog and wish her congratulations!

I tried my first Flat White from Starbucks and it is everything I love about lattes and cappuccinos in one warm, little drink!

I must have been wicked tired after the long run because even after all that caffeine Laci and I managed a nice, long nap.

The remainder of Sunday’s activities included errands, laundry, and date night! I don’t have any pictures because Henri and I tried something new and turned our phones completely OFF for the evening. It was such a good idea and I forsee us doing the same thing for many date nights in the future! 🙂

The 8 inches of snow we got Saturday pales in comparison to what’s coming our way tonight! 20-30 inches of snow are predicted over the next 24 hours! :O holy smokes!! Wish us luck!

Have you tried the Flat White from Starbucks? What is your favorite Starbucks drink?

How old were you when you build your first snowman? Henri was 25!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What was your long run this weekend?
