Life Update & What I’ve Been Up To Since CIM

Happy Monday friends!

I can’t believe that Christmas is just a week away, December has flown by and I feel like I’ve been scrambling to squeeze in Christmas activities this year and semi-failing. It’s been a long time since I just did a fun, life update on here and according to this year’s blog survey (<– please go take it if you haven’t already) a lot of people are missing those kinds of posts the most so I thought it was about time… let’s catch up!

Cross Country Season 2017

Life has been BUSY recently. This fall I went on 5 weekend trips with the cross country teams I coach. Our men’s and women’s teams had an amazing last season in NCAA DII before we make the transition to DI next year. Both team’s won the PacWest Conference Meet, our women won the West Regionals Championship, and the women placed 3rd at Nationals and the men were 5th! I am so proud to have been small part of their success and it was such a blast getting to see them succeed throughout the season.

“Training” Since CIM

CIM was 2 weeks ago and I haven’t run a step since! I took a two full weeks off of running and while my coach cleared me to cross train a little bit if I wanted to the second week I only did one workout – 30 minutes on the elliptical + a little bit of strength and core. As much as I enjoyed the break I am really looking forward to today’s run! I have 5 days of easy running on tap this week and it’s going to be so nice to be out there pounding the pavement again – I even have some runs with me sister(s) to look forward to at the end of the week because we’re going back to MA for Christmas!

Christmas Fun

This month has been crazy but Henri and I have been trying to get in some fun Christmas activities with Lavinia when we can. About a week ago Liv and I had a fun girls’ morning with some friends and went Christmas shopping at Fashion Island. The girls were both very interested in the giant tree and “gifts”.

We also took Liv to see Santa this year and while she was definitely afraid of him, his reaction makes the picture in my opinion!

USATFCCCA Coaches’ Convention

Last week I spent Tuesday-Thursday in Arizona at a coaches’ convention. While it was a hard time of year to take yet another trip (after a long season of traveling) the convention was very fun and there were a lot of good lectures during the days I was there. It was also nice to meet coaches from all over the country and talk about cross country/track & field all week!

CBU coaches after the Hall of Fame Dinner

The hardest thing was that it was during an off week and there were so many people going on group runs. Not to mention that it was a beautiful time of year from running in Arizona. ha

I’m Officially a Master!

Starting in the summer of 2015 I started the Masters program at CBU for Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science. This past August I completed all of my requirements but since I didn’t apply for the May graduation (Henri was traveling for work as the time so I didn’t want to walk without him there) and they cancelled the August graduation I got the chance to walk in my graduation and my degree finally posted this past Friday!

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI

On Saturday night, Henri and I went out on our first official date night in ages. We went to Cucina Enoteca, one of our favorite restaurants in Orange County, and to see the newest Star Wars movie. You know you’re getting old when you’re impressed with yourselves for successfully staying up for a 9:30pm movie. We’d heard mixed reviews for the movie and I won’t spoil anything since it just came out but OMG we both loved it! I don’t know what the haters are talking about. If you love the Star Wars franchise make sure you see this movie ASAP!

My cute date 🙂

2018 Ambassadorships

Ever since I got pregnant with Lavinia my involvement with some of my favorite running brands kind of went by the wayside. Now that we’re in a good groove again I am sooo excited to announce that in 2018 I will be rejoining the ambassador teams for two of my favorite companies – ProCompression & Honey Stinger!

I own an excessive number of ProCompression socks and always race in a pair of the Marathon Socks. And Honey Stinger has been my go-to fuel for long runs and races for many years! I am really looking forward to representing these companies again and being a part of some amazing running communities.

I will also continue representing rabbit this year as a member of the rabbitELITE team!

This year I’m going to continue expanding my online coaching business and I currently have enough space to take on 10 new athletes.
