New Sneakers and Practicing Mental Toughness

My new pair of Altra Provision 2‘s came in the mail last night so I made Henri take me to the gym so I come test them out.

photo 4 (7)That’s a lie – we were planning on going to the gym anyways, but these bright sneaks definitely made it easier to get out the door and head back out into the cold. I love that the orange matches the water bottle that my sister-in-law got me for Christmas! If you haven’t picked up on it by now orange is my favorite color. 😉

I just did 50 minutes split between core and upper body strength so I haven’t run in the sneakers yet but as soon as I do I’ll let you know what I think!

This picture popped up on my TimeHop app the other day – it’s funny to think that 5 years ago when I was studying abroad (visiting Switzerland) I was so excited to see snow and now if I didn’t see another snowflake for 10 years I’d be a happy camper!

When you have a workout scheduled the next morning and you and your running buddy are determined to do it outside you both drive all around your towns looking for clear roads…photo (1)But when snow banks this big are the norm the chances of that happening are pretty slim. 🙁

photo 3 (10)Oh well, looks like another treadmill workout in the forecast but instead of complaining I’m trying to be thankful for the extra practice in mental toughness! As a marathon runner I’m learning that you can never have too much of that!

What is your favorite color?

Do you usually like or dislike snow (when it’s not excessive)?

Any good tips on practicing mental toughness?
