One of Those Weeks & Scenes from our Weekend…

Last week was just one of those weeks…. which I’m assuming you could tell from the fact that I posted exactly twice!

You know after a big race when you are just kinda in a weird funk? Well that happened to me last week – DOUBLE! After a great marathon and long weekend in Chicago followed by an AMAZING weekend of running, exploring and making friends in Bethlehem, PA last week was bound to be rough. Add in 4 straight days of rain and treadmill runs and you’ve got a pretty depressing combination.

Luckily – this weekend turned things around and I can officially say that I am out of the post-marathon slump! I didn’t take many pictures because I was so busy enjoying time with Henri and my family but here are some that I did manage to capture!

Saturday I got in a nice, easy long run by myself while listening to a new book on tape. It’s been awhile since I just got to head out for 90ish minutes of easy running so it was great to get out there, enjoy the weather and just run.photo 2 (73)Finn and Laci love when we are home on the weekends and take advantage of as much cuddle time as possible… Finn was a little confused about why he was having his picture taken!
photo 1 (76)We also played around outside when it wasn’t too cold for them. They move so fast that it’s nearly impossible to get an action shot of them! hahaphoto 2 (63)Saturday night Henri and I tried out Moe’s for dinner because we got a “free burrito” coupon in the mail. It was really good – maybe even better than Chipotle! 😀 (speaking of Chipotle don’t forget about their $3 Boorito deal on Halloween! Henri and I have gone the past two years and it is definitely worth it!)
photo 5 (47)No pic – but we also saw Gone Girl on Saturday night. I’m bummed I didn’t read the book first and wasn’t really a fan of how the movie ended but it held my attention for the entire 3 hours and overall I really liked it!

Sunday morning I was up bright and early to volunteer at a local 5K called the Paws & Claws because it’s put on by the humane society and you can run with your dog! Laci and I directed traffic/parking for 2.5 hours in the cold. Usually I’m on the other side of things at races but it’s always nice to volunteer and help out because there are a lot of things that need to happen to put on a successful race!photo 3 (62)

My shift ended 15 minutes before the start of the race, which was perfect because it gave me and Laci just enough time to get back to the starting line to watch Henri and Cam (my sister’s boyfriend) run. They each ran with one of Cam’s dogs and it looked like they were both having a great time when we saw them round the last corner… even though the dogs looked pretty tired at the end. haha

Cam & Maggie!

Henri and Graham ended up being the 2nd human-dog pair and got to split a pretty fun gift bag of prizes. I think he might be hooked on racing again (<– YAY!!!)photo 5 (49)Overall it was a great weekend – just the thing I needed to get over my post-race slump!

What do you do to get over that funk after a big race/marathon?

Have you ever run a race with your dog?
