Our 10th Valentine’s Day

Before I dive into today’s fun holiday post, I have a quick announcement! I am so excited to start offering nutrition and mental training workshops. The first one will be nutrition focused and will start on Friday March 9th. You can learn more about the 4 week Eat Like an Elite workshop here and register if you are interested. I will be sending the first 10 people to register a special, secret gift! πŸ™‚

Okay – now onto today’s post about the day of love. <3

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Do you have any special plans? It’s a normal weekday for us so Henri will be home from work late and I’ll be exhausted by 8pm from waking up at 4:45am. I will do my best to wait to eat dinner until he gets home so we can eat together (at the table) on a week night for once. Oh the romance, haha. We do have our monthly date night this coming Saturday though so I’m looking forward to that!

Last week it hit me that this is the 10th Valentine’s Day that Henri and I have been together! That is so crazy to me, where has the time gone?

To commemorate this milestone (let’s pretend that getting to 10 Valentine’s Days is a big deal… I mean it kinda is, right?) I thought it would be fun to share 10 facts about us as a couple because that’s not a topic that makes it on the blog very often. So without further ado:

10 Facts About Lauren & Henri

1 – We met on our college cross country team. We were also in a few classes together my first semester and started dating in October of my freshman year. Our first date was at Paradise Cove Beach Cafe and then we had dessert on the beach.

2 – He proposed to me the Thursday before finals the fall semester of my senior year. For obvious reasons I didn’t study as much as I should have that weekend and as a result got a 70ish percent on my tax final… still passed the class though (thank goodness).

3 – We’ve been to 7 different countries together – although we’ve each been to more on our own – and are always dreaming about where we should go next. We love traveling and exploring new places together and our “travel styles” go really well together which I’m so thankful for!

4 – Henri majored in film in college so, naturally, we are really into TV and movies. More so TV these days because it’s hard getting to the movies with a little one but we LOVE a good TV show and can get on a major Netflix or Hulu binge when we find something we’re really into. Our most recent faves have been: The Crown, The Good Place, The Handmaid’s Tale & Master of None.

5 – When we got married we were 24 and 22 (I turned 23 2 weeks later) – I can’t believe that this summer we’ll hit our 5 year anniversary. Time to start planning something BIG! πŸ˜‰

6 – If Henri had his choice of a dream vacation it would be lounging on a beach for a week. In my book Europe always wins because I feel like we live in a dream, beach vacation destination already.

7 – In the 6 years since college we have lived in 7 different apartments/houses. We had a moving obsession for awhile there but hopefully our move into our current house is the final move we have for awhile.

8 – We are both major dog people. If our life could accommodate them we would probably have a pack of dogs, haha. We’re also *those* dog owners that let their dogs on the couch for cuddles, lick faces and sleep in our beds. That’s changed a bit since we got Cooper since he’s so big but every now and then we even give in and let him on the couch.

9 – There is nothing we would rather do than spend time together with our little family. During our premarital class we took the Love Languages quiz and for both of us our top love language is quality time. Our perfect weekend day would involve lots of a fun family activity, relaxing around the house and going out to eat as a fam. πŸ™‚

10 – We both love coffee and family coffee dates are a staple for us on weekends. My go to order is a latte and his is a mocha – we both go between hot and iced depending on weather.

I hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
