Friday Favorites [1]

Man this week went by quickly. Two workouts down with just a long run and an easy run to go but the weather this weekend might make it a rough going for 18 miles. 4-8 inches of snow starting tomorrow morning… we’ll see how that goes!!

I thought it’d be fun to switch things up a bit today and kick off the weekend with some things I’ve been loving recently! Today’s Friday Favorites are…

Seeing progress in my running. One thing I love about my coach is that he has me do the same workouts fairly regularly and over time to get to see how you are improving and progressing through your training. This morning I had a 5 mile tempo – a workout that I’ve done twice before. My average pace the first two times were 6:05 and 6:00 and today I got that average down a little bit more to 5:58! While these are all small increments it’s always encouraging to see that the hard work you are putting in is working! And when I think about how far away my next marathon is (5/31/15) I can’t help but get excited about how much I will have improved by then! đŸ˜€

ProCompression‘s JailBird Sock of the Month. I’m loving the black and white stripes PLUS you can get 40% off when you use coupon code JAN at checkout!

unnamedWednesday Soup Group. During the cold weather month a group of my co-workers and I meet up for lunch every Wednesday and someone makes soup and brings bread. I look forward to it every week because it is such a nice way to warm up and catch up in the middle of the day. Plus, soup is pretty awesome!

Oiselle’s NEW recovery styles. It’s no secret that I love, love, love all things Oiselle and all of these new items look like my ideal weekend wardrobe… now if I can only convince Henri that they’re worth the price for clothes I won’t even be running in. haha!

Sports massages. Since my training has started ramping up I’ve been trying to get in for a sports massage every few weeks (about once a month) just to keep everything feeling as fresh as possible and to combat any sneaking imbalances that could lead to injury. On Tuesday night I went in for a half an hour and walked away feeling a zillion times better!

A friend that ran the same doggy 5K as Henri back in October found this picture of Henri and Graham (my sister’s boyfriend’s dog) the other day and texted it to us. I don’t know why but this picture just make me smile… maybe its the way Graham’s tongue is hanging out of his mouth and he looks so happy!

What are some of your Friday favorites?

Who else is getting hit HARD by snow this weekend??

Best tips for long runs in the snow? I’m definitely going to go dig out my Yaktracks (from where-ever they are) as soon as I get home from work tonight!
