Thinking Out Loud Thursday: 12/10/2014

Happy Thursday!

As usual I have a bunch of randomness to share with you today so I’m going to dive straight into some Thinking Out Loud. A big thanks to Amanda for hosting! 😀

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. We’ve been getting some really nasty weather here the past few days. So much so that my runs on Monday and Tuesday were both on the treadmill (bleh). I was so over that by yesterday morning that I braved the cold and light rain for a run outside. At one point around mile 2 I tried to avoid a giant puddle by jumping off the road and landed right into a mud-pit. The rest of the run my foot was so heavy it almost felt like I was wearing an ankle weight….

2. When the weather has been nice enough I’ve been making sure to get as much time on the trails as possible recently because before you know it the snow is come and there will be no more trail running until spring! 🙁

3. I had a work meeting last night so I was at the office from 9am-8pm. Henri took the opportunity to go get some Christmas shopping done so we grabbed Thai food for dinner. It’s been a while since we had a tv dinner, and it was MUCH needed after a longggggg day. The yellow chicken curry {extra spicy} over brown rice definitely hit the spot!

4. My sister that lives in Colorado posted this picture on Instagram the other day and I was drooling! I really need to step up my cookie making game because there are only 2 MORE WEEKS until Christmas! The cookies on the right are the Ranger Cookies that I posted about last year.

5. Henri and my sister’s boyfriend joined an adult soccer league and their second game is tonight! It is so much fun to see Henri find something that he loves to do… not to mention that it gives me some time to go Christmas shopping for his gifts the next two weeks! 😉

6. Finn is really not adjusting well to this cold weather. Every morning when I’m getting ready for work he curls up on the bed, snuggles himself under the covers and gives me these sad eyes like “don’t make me move”. Poor guy, is just so skinny and doesn’t have much fur to keep him warm.

7. When Henri and I went to my work Christmas party on Sunday this was hanging on the wall. It lists all the towns that the Boston Marathon runs through, which I love. I need to find out where I can buy one ASAP or else I’m just going to make one somehow!

8. I recently treated myself to the Lauren Fleshman Believe Journal and I love everything about it. I will definitely do a post soon about all of its awesome features. Last week was my first week using it so I need a little bit more time to use and explore all the info in it. My favorite thing so far is the pre and post-week reflection that it encourages with the “This week’s Focus” at the beginning of each week and the {RUNDOWN} at the end.

9. This week the focus that I set at the beginning of the week is recovery. My legs have been a little tired/heavy recently and the half on Sunday took a toll on my hamstrings and quads and so in the name of recovery I booked a massage this morning. It felt really good to get some of the knots worked out but after my 30 mins were up the masseuse told me that I needed more time since I was wicked tight. Who am I to question her expert opinion?? 😉 haha

10. For the first time in my life I’m trying to put together a racing schedule for an entire year (or at least the first 6 months of 2015 and it is sooooo much harder than I thought it would be. There is so much to take into consideration – weather, travel, qualifying, ideal spacing of goal/key races…. it’s a lot to think about. Hopefully I will nail it down soon so that I can share with all of you! 😀

No questions – just tell me something random about your week!
