Training Summary: 7/10/2017-7/16/2017

Happy Sunday! I hope that you either had a wonderful run this morning or are enjoying a Sunday rest day like me!

I’ve really been slacking on posting these weekly training summaries but I promise I’m trying to get back in the routine of sharing!  This past week of training was probably one of the best I’ve had this training cycle in terms of my run and workouts. I hit 50 miles for the first time in a while which felt really good and both of my workouts went really well.

I was THRILLED with my Tuesday workout at first but then when I went to enter my run in the app my coach uses to track our progress I realized I had had a major blonde moment and instead of doing 1×3 mile as prescribed I had done 3×1 mile…. ha! No wonder I was able to hit paces much faster than “prescribed”. Friday’s workout also felt pretty smooth, I did the 800s around a loop in our neighborhood and it was nice to be close to home for the workout. In fact, since we moved into our house I’ve found a 400m, 800m and mile loop that are perfect for workouts.

I’m very happy with how both workouts went, however, the time it’s been taking me to recover has been frustrating. My long run yesterday felt pretty difficult and while I’m chalking it up to running 12 miles the day after a workout my legs have been feeling heavy and sore too often recently. I’m planning to pick up some liquid iron to see if that improves things. Here’s hoping it does because my last race of this training cycle is next Saturday!
