Training Summary: 7/17/2017-7/23/2017 & Running Plans Going Forward
I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend so far. It feels like we already packed a month’s worth of activities into this weekend and it’s only half over. I’ll be back later this week to recap my 10K from yesterday as well as Liv’s 1st birthday party each more in depth. Today I wanted to do a quick summary of my training from this week and fill you guys in on my running plans going forward.
This was the last week of my summer road racing “season” and my goal race at the Cypress Run 10K. It’s been about 15 weeks of hard training and I’ve been really happy with how my 5K times were progressing. Based on my races leading up to this week and how I’ve been doing in my workouts I was really excited to test my 10K fitness in a really competitive race. I came away with a time of 36:02 and a 5th place finish, overall I was really happy with a 19 second PR even though I would have loved to break 36 minutes.
I’m looking forward to a week off from training before rolling into some half marathon/marathon training for the fall. My goal race is CIM in early December and along the way I’m hoping to PR in the half marathon. I haven’t nailed down my goal half marathons yet but I’ll probably do one in late September/early October and then one in the middle of November. I’m also hoping to do a few 5Ks & 10Ks if I can fit it into my schedule but it can be difficult to coordinate my racing plans with my team’s cross country schedule.
So that’s the plan for the rest of 2017 🙂

Monday – 6 miles easy
Tuesday – 6 miles easy
Wednesday – 7.5 MILE WORKOUT
2 mile warm-up, 4x 1 mile @ 5:41, 5:41, 5:43, 5:47 with 2 minute rest, 2x 400m @ 76, 78 with 2 minute rest, 2 mile cool-down
Thursday – 6 miles @ 7:45 pace
Friday – 3 miles @ 7:40 pace + 4x 50m strides
Saturday – 10.2 MILE RACE
2 mile warm-up, 10K race @ 36:02, 2 mile cool-down
Sunday – REST DAY
TOTAL: 38.7 miles
