Baby Floris #2: Weeks 15 + 16 and It’s a…

Before I dive into the pregnancy update we have some exciting news to share… Baby Floris is a GIRL! We are so excited that Lavinia is going to have a sister and to add another sweet, little girl to our family! I was in complete shock when we found out because I had no feeling one way or the other if it was a boy or girl but I am over the moon about having little SISTERS so close together!

Ok, so what’s been going on with me and baby the past 2 weeks?

WHAT’S BABY FLORIS UP TO?

WEEK 15

Baby is the size of a naval orange. She can move all of her limbs and is moving a lot – which we got to see during our gender ultrasound this past Saturday.

WEEK 16

Baby is the size of an avocado. She is growing hair, eyelashes and eyebrows and the little bones in her ears are developed enough that she is able to hear our voices!

WEIGHT GAINED

WEEK 15

I didn’t weigh myself this week.

WEEK 16

10 lbs

WORKOUTS

WEEK 15

I ran 5 days this week for a total of 27 miles (total pregnancy miles so far = 441.5). I also went to one Fit4Moms Run Club class, did a strength workout, a 30 minute JasYoga video and did a family workout with Henri and Liv.

WEEK 16

I ran 5 days this week for a total of 21 miles (total pregnancy miles so far = 462.5). This week I came down with a little cold and had a sore throat and headache so I took two complete rest days which I completely needed. Other than my runs I only got in one little strength workout.

SYMPTOMS

I’ve lucked out so far and haven’t had too many symptoms. My lower back has been a little bit sore the past few days but I have a chiropractic appointment and massage scheduled for the upcoming week. Other than that the varicose vein on my left calf has grown a little bit and is a little sore every once in a while but wearing my ProCompression socks helps alleviate the soreness.

MOVEMENT

Yes! I started feeling movement a little bit after I hit 15 weeks. It’s still just little flutters but it is the best feeling! During our gender ultrasound it pretty fun to feel a kick and then see the kick happen on the screen.

FOOD CRAVINGS & AVERSIONS

Cravings: Cheese and crackers, fruit, raspberry popsicles, lemonade, pancakes, chips and anything salty/crunchy.

Aversions: Luckily, I haven’t been having many cravings. The only thing that really comes to mind is that after the first few sips of coffee it usually doesn’t taste very good anymore…

SLEEP

Sleep has been going really well, I definitely need 8 hours a night though so waking up early for runs to beat the heat is tough! I bust out my Snoogle a few weeks ago and it is definitely key to getting comfortable sleep.

MATERNITY CLOTHES

Yep! I have to wear maternity pants and shorts all the time now. I can still wear most of my non-maternity shirts because I generally wear my shirts a little loose but I feel more comfortable in my maternity shirts.

STRETCH MARKS

Nope.

MISS ANYTHING?

Currently I’m just missing not feeling so easily out of breath on my runs – going uphill when you’re pregnant is hard!

BELLY BUTTON IN OR OUT?

My belly button is poppin’ for sure!

BABY ITEMS PURCHASED

We did purchase the Build-A-Bear for the baby during our family activity to find out the gender. Other than that no we haven’t made any purchases specifically for the baby yet, but now that we know we’re having a girl let the spending spree begin! (I kid, I kid haha)

FAVORITE MOMENT OF THE WEEK

WEEK 15

Lavinia’s birthday!

WEEK 16

Our entire family date on Saturday that Henri planned to find out the gender of Baby Floris #2. First, we went to a gender ultrasound and got to see our little one squirming all around and Liv kept saying “baby, baby, sleeping”. Then we took the envelope with the gender on it to Build-A-Bear and had Lavinia build a bear for the baby. When it was time to dress the bear Henri looked at the envelope while Liv and I picked out a boy outfit and a girl outfit. Then he pointed to which one we would need. It was such a fun way to find out and the ladies at the store were so excited too which was really sweet.

LOOKING FORWARD TO

WEEK 15

There are two things that I’m really looking forward to this coming week. 1) My next midwife appointment later this week and 2) Finding out if Baby Floris is a boy or a girl at our family date on Saturday.

My sweet girl at my prenatal appointment this past week. She LOVED getting to hear little sister’s heartbeat!

WEEK 16

Telling everyone that Baby Floris is a girl!!! (and finding the perfect name for her)
