Friday Favorites // 8.10.18

Happy Friday friends!

Things have been an absolute whirlwind over here recently… I knew that the last few weeks of summer would fly by but there have been a LOT of changes at work recently and the busy-ness and stress have just made the past two weeks feel like the fastest two weeks ever. Our athletes arrive on campus on Tuesday and we’re going to hit the ground running with practice and team meetings and all that goodness the next day. I can’t believe that the last weekend of summer is already here. I’m hoping to have some fun with my peeps while also getting to relax before the craziness of the season sets in… it’ll seriously feel like I’m working 6-7 days a week until the end of October!

Today I thought it would be fun to keep things light and share some Friday Favorites…

.1. Number 1 definitely has to be the look of the new Up + Running Logo! Ever since I started my coaching business back up I’ve been dreaming of having a cool logo that I want to put on ALL THE THINGS… t-shirts, hats, singlets, you name it. And now I have something that I am absolutely in love with. I found a graphic designer through this cool website that Henri found called Upwork.com. She was easy to work with and came up with some many good options that I had a hard time choosing just one.

.2. SUMMER FRUIT! The peaches and strawberries around here the past few months have been incredible! I’ve been buying the big crates of peaches from Trader Joe’s and at least 2 lbs of strawberries each week and we are flying through them because we cannot get enough… I mean I guess it’s mostly me and baby #2 that can’t get enough.

.3. Watching Liv become and even better talker and making sentences/singing songs! Liv has been talking for a long time at this point but recently she’s really started stringing words together and forming sentences that Henri and I are always shocked by. She is saying new words all the time, mastering words really quickly and communicating so well. It is just so fun hearing her little voice and having actually conversations with her!

.4. FRE’s new Detox me – FRE just came out with a face mask and it is so amazing. When I first opened my jar I couldn’t believe how wonderful it smells. It is really gentle but leaves your skin feeling so fresh! If you want to try it for yourself you can go to their website [here] and use code “LAURENFL” for 25% off!

.5. Dreaming of/planning post-baby races. I know, I know… I’m still 5 months away from my due date but I have a lot of work to do between the birth of this baby and the Olympic Trials. I want to set myself up for success and while I’m going to be listening to my body along the way and making adjustments as I go I do have a goal to run the Chicago Marathon in October because I really don’t want to Olympic Trials Marathon to be my next marathon! The first big race that I’d like to target after baby is the Peachtree 10K so that I can get out to Atlanta, get the lay of the land, try out the race hotel and find some good restaurants in the area… basically to do a little test run before the Olympic Trials.

Also – you’ll see that I’m dreaming for getting out to New England for a good chunk of the summer next year to visit family and get in some quality races. We’ll see if that works out/how much of that works out because it’ll all depend on what’s going on for me in terms of work but that’s my dream for next summer!

.6. Getting out for an actual date night! Last weekend Henri and I got to go out to dinner for our first date in a while. His sister came over to babysit which Liv was very excited about and we loved out just the two of us for a little bit. We tried an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ place and walked around the shopping center in town that had a live band playing. We were home before 8:30pm because we were so tired but a few hours away was exactly what we needed.

.7. Unfortunately, I have to end on a not-so-favorite this week. If you haven’t heard, the state of California is on fire. There are huge fires in Northern California and another massive fire here in Southern California near us. I didn’t grow up here so fires are totally foreign to me and their unpredictability always makes me a little uneasy. This whole week I’ve been praying for the families and communities affected and for the firefighters that are working to contain/put out the fires. If you have a minute and could do the same today we could really use it here in CA!

On that note, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! See you back here on Monday with another pregnancy recap of weeks 17 + 18!! (oh my gosh, how are we almost to 18 weeks? this baby is going to be here before we know it!)
