Pregnancy #2 Questionnaire

Hello from beautiful Amsterdam! Henri and I are here for the next week celebrating our 5 year anniversary!

I plan to share lots of fun details from our trip but today I wanted to pop in with a little questionnaire about pregnancy #2 🙂

Baby Floris #2: Pregnancy Questionnaire

How did you find out?

I had a feeling that I might be pregnant so when I got home from work on May 7th I took a test and it was positive!!

How did you tell Henri?

Originally I wanted to wait until the weekend after I found out to tell Henri. I was going on a trip for work and had this cute idea to come home from my trip and say “oh I got Liv a souvenir t-shirt from Portland” and take it out of my bag and it really be a “Big Sister” t-shirt but I was so excited/shocked that I had to tell him that day. I simply left the pregnancy test on the bathroom counter so that when he came home from work he would see it. To say he was surprised would be an understatement!

What were your first pregnancy symptoms?

Increased hunger and thirst! These symptoms actually started super early one and are the main reason I decided to take a test.

What was your first reaction to your pregnancy?

I was in shock! I was so happy but honestly couldn’t believe it because Henri and I hadn’t strictly been trying/had just decided to start trying. I feel like we talked about getting pregnant and suddenly I was pregnant! haha. I am so so thankful but was honestly so surprised!

How far along were you when you found out?

4 weeks. The exact same as when I found out I was pregnant with Lavinia!

How far along are you now?

10 weeks + 2 days

When is your due date?

January 14, 2019

How did you tell family and friends? How did they react?

I just told my family members separately over the phone since they all live so far away. We told Henri’s family by showing up to a family BBQ with Lavinia in a “World’s Best Sister” t-shirt and waiting until someone noticed what it said! They’re reactions were priceless!

Will you find out the sex?

100% – we are not the kind of people that can wait until the baby is born to find out!

Do you have any feelings about whether its a boy or a girl?

Last time I was convinced that I was having a boy early on and I ended up being wrong, this time I have no clue either way. Last time I was so eager to find out the sex that I made an ultrasound appointment at 15 weeks but this time we are just going to wait until the 20 week anatomy scan. Right now that sounds soooooo far away but I know that it’ll be here before I know it!

Are there any names that you already like?

We have running lists of boy and girl names that we like but there really aren’t any front-runners at the moment, especially on the boy side.

How long were you trying?/Were you trying?

Yes and no. Our plan was to start trying after my track season ended in June. However, we were not strictly trying in May which is when we ended up getting pregnant so Baby Floris #2 is a wonderful, early surprise.

How many ultrasounds have you had?

None so far but we have our first one scheduled for July 3rd!

Who do you think the baby will look like?

I’m not sure! Lavinia is such an even mix of Henri and I (at least in my opinion) so I kind of have a feeling that this baby will be as well.

Have you felt the baby move?

Nope, too early for that!

Do/did you have morning sickness?

I’ve definitely had some constant but mild nausea but it hasn’t been anything like the morning sickness that I had with Lavinia (maybe that means this one will be a boy?)

I’m so thankful that I’ve been feeling healthy enough for fun activities with the family – like our Memorial Day beach trip!

Do you have any cravings?

Not really, but I have been STARVING. I feel like I can eat a ton of food and be hungry 5 minutes later.

Do you have any aversions?

Nothing that’s consistent but there are definitely times that I have a hard time deciding what I want to eat because nothing really sounds good. Coffee hasn’t been tasting very good the past few weeks so I’ve been drinking a lot less than usual.

How much weight have you gained so far?

Not sure, I had gained about 3 lbs at my first prenatal appointment that was 3 weeks ago. Since then I haven’t weighed myself. One a similar note though, I will say that the belly “pop” happens SO much earlier the second time around lol

< core engaged / core relaxed > @ 6.5 weeks!

Have you experienced any crazy pregnancy related emotions or mood swings?

Not really, but I’m definitely more weepy than usual – anything remotely sad or happy on TV/the radio/in books/etc makes me cry.

How has work been?

Luckily, good! I was really nervous for my work trip to Charlotte, NC a few weeks ago because it was right during the week that I was as far along as I was when I first started getting really sick with Lavinia. I am so glad that I only experienced some light nausea during that trip and wasn’t throwing up a few times a day like I was with Liv at that point.

Do you plan to continue working out throughout your pregnancy?

Yes! As long as the baby and I stay healthy!

Have your workouts changed at all?

After I found out we were expecting my coach and I made the decision to keep training through my last scheduled track race. My mileage was a bit lower the last 4 weeks that I was training and knew I was pregnant but that was in part because I had struggled with staying healthy for the month previous. Since the rabbit5000 (technically I ran the 3K haha) I took a rest week and last week I was back to getting in some easy mileage. Depending on how I feel throughout the duration of this pregnancy my coach and I are planning to keep chugging along with easy mileage and some workouts to keep a good base for when I come back after baby (of course with the approval and supervision of my midwife).

Will you be delivering at the same birth center as you did with Lavinia?

We are going to be doing dual care with Kaiser and the birth center we went to with Lavinia. That way our ultrasounds, blood work and any other tests that would be out of pocket expenses through the birth center will be covered by our insurance. But we will be delivering with a midwife from our birth center. We still don’t know exactly where we will be birthing but we did apply to have a home birth, they have to review a few different factors including what other families are interested in home births and we will get the final decision from the birth center sometime in August.

Loved taking Livy girl to the place where she was born for baby sibling’s first prenatal appointment!

How do you think Laci + Copper will react to their little brother or sister?

Laci was really good with Liv when she was a baby and Cooper is so gentle that I’m pretty sure they are going to do a great job when Baby #2 arrives.
