What I Ate Wednesday: Eating Our Way Through Chicago

Since I’m heading to the Runner’s World Half & Festival tomorrow today is like my Friday. I’m a big fan of this 2-day work week thing I got going this week!

Marathon weekends require a lot of eating and we definitely did just that in Chicago. It’s been a while since I participated in What I Ate Wednesday and there’s no better time to join in than when you have a bazillion food photos to share, so here’s a photo journal of my Chi-town eats!

Sunday – Post-race goodies!

The first thing I consumed after the marathon was a big old plate of homemade french fries in the Ronald McDonald House Charity tent (my sister ran for them so we all got into the after partay!)

After the first plate of chips I loaded up my plate with more chips, pasta salad, pulled pork sandwich, PICKLES (my favorite thing after the marathon), and a brownie. Food has never tasted so good.photo 4 (38)

The night of the race we went out to a celebratory dinner at Cheesecake Factory (the absolute closest restaurant to our hotel so that we didn’t have to walk far). I went for the BBQ ranch chicken salad and a giant pile of sweet potato fries. Salt is your friend after 26.2!photo 1 (71) photo 2 (66)

We all needed some chocolate after dinner so we stopped at Ghirardelli for some ice cream!

Monday – the eating continues….

Everyone was really tired and slept in but I was up early as always. I grabbed a cappuccino from the Starbucks in the lobby and drank it in bed.photo 4 (42)

Once we were all awake and ready to go Ann Sather‘s happened.

And last but not least, what trip to Chicago is complete without a slice of deep dish pizza? (or two??) Pepperoni, peppers and onions at Giordano’s for the win!

Do you have a go-to meal to celebrate a good race?

Deep dish your thin crust pizza? I do like deep dish when I’m in Chicago but I’m usually a thing crust girl!
