I Am This Kind of Mom

If you are a mom and you don’t follow Ralphie at Simply on Purpose yet you are missing out girlfriend!

This past week to gear up for Mother’s Day she has started a movement called #iamthiskindofmom, to encourage mothers to celebrate the kind of mom that they are and their unique skills. I love this idea so much because I think as moms it is really easy to get caught in the comparison trap when really you and your mama-skills are exactly what your kiddos need! So I’m jumping on Ralphie’s bandwagon and celebrating/sharing the kind of mom I am.

I am the kind of mom that lets my daughter pull 10+ candy bars off the shelf in the check-out lane at Target but directs her to put them back herself when it’s time to go.

I am the kind of mom that listens to my podcasts/audio books in the car rather than kiddie music.

I am the kind of mom that sometimes scoops her sleeping daughter out of her crib at night and brings her in mommy and daddy’s bed for snuggles.

I am the kind of mom that doesn’t always Facetime during work trips because it makes my daughter upset to see me on the phone.

I am the kind of mom that is ok with messes (and doesn’t always clean them up right after my daughter is done making them).

I am the kind of mom that laughs when my daughter does something funny, even when it’s a little bit naughty.

I am the kind of mom that is not good at planning holiday related crafts/activities (thank goodness for daycare!)

I am the kind of mom that will choose to sit with my daughter to play or watch a movie rather than clean the kitchen or fold the laundry… little miss wins every time!

I am the kind of mom that is all about routines… and loves the opportunities to break/bend them because it makes me feel like a cool mom. 😉

I am the kind of mom that loves her daughter hard and is working on being a better mom every day.

If you are a mom too I’d love it if you joined in in the comments and let me know what kind of mom you are (and happy early Mother’s Day as well!)
