Baby Floris #2: Weeks 19 + 20

20 weeks – oh boy! We are halfway there you guys!! I cannot believe it, like I say in each and every one of these bumpdates this pregnancy is truly flying by!

The past two weeks were a little hectic and crazy so they seemed to pass particularly quickly. I was sick for half of last week and being sick while you are pregnant really isn’t fun, even when it’s just a little cold. I try not to take anything when I am pregnant but I had such a bad sore throat and headache that I took acetaminophen for a day or two until it went away. Thankfully it didn’t last very long but man oh man those few days were rough, especially since it also coincided with preseason cross country camp and I didn’t have the chance to rest and relax.

We are also starting to make progress on moving Lavinia into her big girl room and transforming her current room into the baby’s nursery which makes this whole little sister thing seem more and more real – as does this growing baby bump of mine! lol

WHAT’S BABY FLORIS UP TO?

WEEK 19

Baby is the size of a mango! She is developing the vernix caseosa (a greasy, protective coating on her skin) and is growing the nerves in her brain that will enable her to have the five senses.

WEEK 20

Baby is the size of a banana. She has functioning taste buds and she is swallowing multiple ounces of amniotic fluid each day.

WEIGHT GAINED

I’ve gained ~13 lbs so far.

WORKOUTS

WEEK 19

I ran 5 days this week for a total of 30 miles (total pregnancy miles so far = 543).

WEEK 20

I was in Big Bear this week for XC preseason camp, which means that we were at ~6,700ft elevation. I still managed to run 5 days and 30 miles total (total pregnancy miles so far = 573)

SYMPTOMS

I am still having a little bit of lower back pain, but I just received a Maternity FitSplit from Recore Fitness so I’m hoping that that will help alleviate this. My varicose vein is also still sore from time to time but overall it’s doing pretty well when I wear compression socks/sleeves. The only new thing that popped up in the past two weeks is that the past week I had a few bouts of heartburn. I hope that this is just temporary and not here to stay for the next 20 weeks.

MOVEMENT

Yes, every day around the same time. I love our little “bonding times” right before bed. 🙂

FOOD CRAVINGS & AVERSIONS

These past two weeks I haven’t really experienced any cravings or aversions.

SLEEP

Thankfully sleep is still going well! For a while there I was struggling to fall asleep but now that early morning XC practices have started falling asleep isn’t a problem at all!

MATERNITY CLOTHES

Always – and I’m getting to the point where I’m starting to outgrow my running clothes as well… haha

STRETCH MARKS

Still no stretch marks yet.

MISS ANYTHING?

Not really.

BELLY BUTTON IN OR OUT?

Oh the belly button is popping!

BABY ITEMS PURCHASED

When we were up in Big Bear we found the most adorable, little shop and I bought baby girl a sweet little outfit and a swaddle. I can’t wait to see her in these!

FAVORITE MOMENT OF THE WEEK

WEEK 19

Lavinia’s swim lesson! She started lessons at a new place a few weeks ago and she’s been having a hard time adjusting to being in the pool alone with her instructor (instead of having us come in with her). Because she was having trouble when I was in the same room I had to hang out at the coffee shop next door so when I was able to sit and watch her entire lesson this week and there were NO TEARS it felt like a major win!!

WEEK 20

When I asked Lavinia if she wanted to give baby sister a hug and she ran right up to me, gave my belly a big hug and kiss and said “Love you *****” (<– baby sister’s name!) Cue heart melting!

LOOKING FORWARD TO

WEEK 19

Getting to spend a week in Big Bear with my parents and Lavinia! Last year I wasn’t able to bring Liv to camp so I am so excited that she and my parents are able to tag along this year. A week of relaxation in the mountains sounds like so much fun right now.

WEEK 20

My midwife appointment coming up this week, and FINALLY getting our anatomy scan on the schedule! (This still hasn’t happened)
