Baby Floris #3!

Hey friends! If you missed our announcement on IG last week our family has some exciting news! We’ll be welcoming Baby Floris #3 in early February 2024.

I cannot believe that our family will be welcoming our 5th family member – I’ve known for almost 2 months now and I’m still in shock/awe a lot of the time!

I threw up a question box on IG about this pregnancy a few days ago and wanted to share the answers as well as just a bit more about pregnancy #3.

BABY FLORIS #3: PREGNANCY QUESTIONNAIRE

How did you find out?

We’d been trying for awhile which was a new experience for us since we got pregnant with Liv the second month we tried and Marigold was a happy surprise. Our plan was to try through the end of August and if we didn’t get pregnant we were going to be happy with our 4 person family.

That takes us to the day that I found out – it was the last day of school for the girls and the next day we were flying to visit my sister and her family and I was due to get my period when we were gone. I figured I should take a quick test so that I could pack period supplies if needed. Since we hadn’t had success for many months I wasn’t expecting it to be positive. at ALL. And I honestly almost forgot about it and left for my run!

But at the last minute I remembered, checked it and as I was going to throw it away assuming it was negative I realized that there were two very strong lines!

How did you tell Henri?

I was in so much shock that I couldn’t wait to tell Henri and do something cute! My parents were in town so I told them I was heading out for my run and went outside to meet Henri as he was getting home from dropping Marigold off at school. I showed him the picture of the test in the middle of our street haha. He was so excited!

What were your first pregnancy symptoms?

I felt absolutely awful during my long run and Tuesday workout the week before I found out and even texted Henri – ‘either I’m pregnant or my iron is low again because those paces felt way harder than they should have!’

How far along were you when you found out?

3 weeks + 5 days!

How far along are you now?

13 weeks + 1 day

When is your due date?

February 4, 2024

How did you tell family and friends? How did they react?

We told our families way sooner this pregnancy than with either of the first two. We were just so excited and didn’t do a very good of keeping it a secret. The girls wanted to be involved so we let them tell our family members “Mommy has a baby in her belly!”

Telling Nana the news

Will you find out the sex?

Yes! – we actually already know! We were so anxious to know the gender this pregnancy that I ordered a Sneak Peek self-blood test so that we could find out early. Last week our midwife confirmed with her more accurate blood test that the original results were right! She also said that her expecting mothers have gotten really accurate results through Sneak Peek so if you are pregnant are are interested I just bought the test on Amazon here.

Finding out the gender!

Do you have any feelings about whether its a boy or a girl?

Before we found out I had a very strong feeling one way… and I was RIGHT!

Are there any names that you already like?

Yes! I know I’m only in the first trimester but we’ve already agreed on the name! We’ll likely share sometime before they are born but we picked a name that will honor two of my grandparents and that makes me so happy! The girls already refer to baby by their name and it’s the best!

Have you had an ultrasound yet?

Not yet! As long as everything progresses as planned the only ultrasound we’ll have will likely be the anatomy scan between 18-22 weeks. But we did hear the baby’s heart beat at our first appointment a few weeks ago which is always a special moment.

Who do you think the baby will look like?

Oh goodness, our girls are TWINS to me so I think it’s pretty likely that Baby #3 will look just like their older sisters!

Do/did you have morning sickness?

Yes! It was pretty bad from 6 weeks-10 weeks but has improved significantly since then. With my first pregnancy I threw up all the time but luckily with pregnancies #2 and #3 my morning sickness was more of the ‘constant feeling of nausea’ type. If I take in a good amount of protein and eat every 2-3 hours it helps with the nausea.

Do you have any cravings?

No consistent cravings but every once in a while a craving will hit – some that have hit me have been Nerds (I don’t remember the last time I ate Nerds before this!), Panda Express, and usually just random salty things like chips or popcorn.

Do you have any aversions?

Hot coffee never sounds good when I’m pregnant, but give me an iced latte and I’m a happy girl.

Other than that the only thing that’s really grossing me out is touching raw chicken – Henri cooked us Chicken Fajita bowls last night which were so yummy and I was so glad I wasn’t the one that had to deal with the chicken.

How has running / training changed?

3 days after I found out that I was pregnant I ran the BOLDERBoulder – I felt better than I expected but the pregnancy definitely made the hills and altitude tough to handle.

Three weeks after that I ran the Garry Bjorkland Half Marathon at Grandma’s Marathon weekend. I shared all about that experience in detail in this post on IG but long story short it was a lot of fun and I’m so glad that I was able to sneak in two bucket list races early in this pregnancy!

Since the half my running has been really chill. I took a full two week break and have just been easing back into easy runs. It’s really hot right now so a lot of times my activity is either a run-walk or a walk. I’m not putting a lot of pressure on myself to do too much during this pregnancy but as I coming up on the 2nd trimester this weekend I’m definitely feeling more motivation and desire to bump up the mileage a bit.

The goal is just the stay active for the next 6 months or so. Training in pregnancy will probably include some hiking, swimming, lifting, etc. Whatever sounds fun in the moment!

I know you had the girls at a birth center but you’ve moved since then, will you be delivering at a birth center again?

We actually found a midwife that we love that does all of her visits in your home and does home deliveries. We had our first appointment with her two weeks ago and I’m so excited to go through this experience with her. I’ve always wanted to have a home birth and am really looking forward to it! Plus with a full-time job + 2 kiddos what could be more convenient than your prenatal appointments coming to you?

I’m looking forward to sharing this pregnancy with you all! If you have any additional questions that I didn’t touch on above leave them in the comments and I’ll make sure to answer!
